Personal settings section:
User server wide settings
The Administrator (Citidexli.com) has set up and activated mail filters at server level. All the incoming mail will be processed with those rules before it reaches your mailbox. You can choose to use it or not to use server wide settings for your email. If you decide to not to use those rules your mail will be processed only according to rules configured for your mailbox.

To use (not use) server wide settings check (uncheck) the User server wide settings checkbox. Click Set button to save changes

Hits required for spam
In order to recognize a mail message as spam it needs to score a certain amount of hits. The hits are scored according to the internal Spam Filter settings based on the contents of the mail message and its subject. You can change the sensitivity of the spam filter by changing the amount of hits required for marking a message a spam. The bigger the number the less sensitive the filter is, the smaller the number the more sensitive filter becomes. The default amount of hits is 7.

If you wish to change this value click into Hits required for spam input box, enter new value, click Set button to save changes

What to do with spam mail
You can choose what to do with the email that was recognized as spam
  • You can choose to delete the email
  • Or mark it as spam by adding a marker to subject of the email and leave it in your mailbox (by default *****SPAM***** is added to the subject). If you wish to modify this tag just type in your string into text box and click Set button.

Note:
Citidexli.com recommends marking the spam with default *****SPAM***** tag and saving it in your mailbox. The *****SPAM***** string can be used by your email application to filter the mail to some SPAM folder for your review.

Black List
Black list is a list of e-mail addresses, which are automatically considered as spam. All messages coming from the e-mail addresses that match those specified in the black list will automatically be marked as spam. You can add to list exact emails or patterns by using wildcard characters:
* represents 0 or more characters

Example:
If you wish to block every mail from yahoo.com you would add this pattern to black list: *@yahoo.com

If you wish to block all mail that comes from deals@anydomain.com you would add this pattern to black list: deals@*

If you wish to block mail only from allfree@aol.com you would add to black list: allfree@aol.com

Adding patterns to Black list:
To add pattern to Black list enter the pattern into input field and click Add button. The new entry will appear in the user's black list section.

Removing patterns from Black list:
To remove pattern from Black list select the pattern from the list and click Remove button. The entry will disappear from black list.

White List
White list is a list of e-mail addresses, which are automatically considered as trustworthy. All messages coming from the e-mail addresses that match those specified in the white list will never be marked as spam. You can add to list exact emails or patterns by using wildcard characters:
* represents 0 or more characters

Example:
If you wish to allow every mail from yahoo.com you would add this pattern to white list: *@yahoo.com

If you wish to allow all mail that comes from deals@somedomain.com you would add this pattern to white list: deals@*

If you wish to allow mail only from allfree@aol.com you would add to white list: allfree@aol.com

Adding patterns to White list:
To add pattern to White list enter the pattern into input field and click Add button. The new entry will appear in the user's white list section.

Removing patterns from White list:
To remove pattern from White list select the pattern from the list and click Remove button. The entry will disappear from White list.

Note:
The Administrator's section in both lists contains the server wide entries that were added by the Citidexli.com. If you choose to use the server wide filtering settings you may wish to edit this section by removing unnecessary entries. To do that, just select the entry from Administrator's list section and click Remove button.

Tools
Training
You can train your mail filters on actual messages you receive. Click the Training icon in the Tools group to access Spam filter training page. The headers for all mail that comes to your mailbox will be listed here. Each such header you can mark as spam, ham (good mail) or forget.
  • Marking a header as spam will result in recognition of same or similar mail as spam
  • Marking a header as ham will result in recognition of same or similar mail as not spam
  • Option forget clears the database of any rules (spam or ham) previously set for that header

How to train spam filter?
  1. Click Training icon.
  2. A list of emails subjects and from fields will be displayed. These are the headers of the emails that you have or had in your mailbox.
  3. Each header can be marked as spam, ham or forget.
  4. Pick a right selection for each header according to your best knowledge.
  5. Once you make selections for all the headers click OK button.
  6. This will add appropriate rules to the spam filter which in the future will recognized messages similar to the once that it was trained on.

The next time you come in to Training page, the same headers will appear on the list plus some additional ones that you might have received.

Note:
The interface will not remember what selection did you make previously for each header. You will need to repeat the whole process one more time for the old and new headers on your list.

Note:
Spam filter training will not mark messages that you already have in your mailbox. The rules will be applied to new incoming messages.

How to delete created rules?
If you want to remove all headers rules from the database click the Clear button. This will delete all the rules that you created previously. The list will be populated only with headers from emails that you currently have in your Mailbox.

Note:
Enabling spam filter for your mailbox will cause marking some of the messages as spam. The spam filter will not move or redirect your mail to some special spam folder. All the mail will be still available in your Inbox. You will need to set up special rules in your mail application to move those messages that were marked as spam to another folder.
